# Installing and playing

First things first, this is a **plugin**!

A plugin is a modification made for server software, so it's way different from how a mod or a datapack works.

You don't need to install any type of modloader, mod or anything related to that, you just need to have a **server**, in this page there's a tutorial on how to set-up a new server, and if you already have one, you can just jump straight to **Step 2**.

***

## Step 1. Downloading server software

You can download the most recent version of PaperMC, the most modern and recommended server software here:

<a href="https://fill-ui.papermc.io/projects/paper" class="button primary" data-icon="paper-plane">PaperMC</a>

Remember to download a version that Physics Plugin supports and you are most comfortable with, and supports other plugins in case you are going to use, usually the ones for 1.21 are better.&#x20;

After downloading, just double click the **server jar** you just downloaded.

***

## Step 2. Downloading Physics Plugin

You can get the latest Physics Plugin release from here:

<a href="https://modrinth.com/plugin/physics-plugin" class="button primary" data-icon="cubes">Physics Plugin</a>

***

## Step 3. Installing and using the plugin!

After downloading the plugin jar, just drag & drop it inside your **plugins** folder, then restart or start your server and everything should be working fine.
